Long before it was an industry - or something polished, recorded, and performed on a stage - music belonged to ordinary people. We gathered in homes, at bedsides, and around the warmth of the fire. We used music to tell our stories, carry memories across generations, soothe our children, mourn what we had lost, celebrate what we loved, summon courage, and remind one another that we were not alone.

Music helped us remember who we were.

Somewhere along the way, amidst the building of our lives, our careers, our families… many of us  tucked that spark of creativity away. It may have even felt silly - to think that we had any right to play an instrument, to create, or to sing. We began to believe that music belonged primarily to professionals: people with extraordinary voices, technical training, natural confidence or ambitions to perform. And we became the listeners and admirers, while quietly setting aside our own desire to create.

But music was never meant to belong only to the exceptionally gifted.

​

Your voice does not need to sound like anyone else’s to carry meaning. Your guitar playing does not need to sound like the songs on the radio to be worth sharing. You do not need to understand music theory, play an instrument with impressive technical skill, or call yourself a musician before you are allowed to make music.

​

You only need a place to begin - and a place where your unfinished, imperfect, and entirely original musical voice is welcome.

​

We believe creativity does not expire. We believe the years you have lived give you more - not less - to write about, to create, and to share. We believe music is an integral part of the human experience, and it can help people find one another, find courage, and recover parts of themselves that responsibility, fear, or circumstance caused them to leave behind. 

​

We are human, and imperfectly but beautifully creative.

And we have music in us.
